APPOINTMENTS

Consultations with the doctors or nurses are by appointment only. We recognize the importance of continuity in care and as such we will endeavour to book you with your registered doctor. When this is not possible you will be offered an appointment with one of the associate doctors.

If your appointment is for a review or follow up of an ongoing problem please let our reception staff know who you have previously seen and they will endeavour to book you with the same doctor.

We try our best to accommodate your preferred day, time and doctor but this is not always possible

BOOK ON-LINE

You can now book doctor appointments on-line  via the Patient Access website(click on the box below). You can also cancel doctor and nurse appointments on-line. In order to do this  you will first of all need to register to access the on-line service using unique details and a PIN number. You can get your registration details by coming in and speaking to one of our receptionists.

ROUTINE APPOINTMENTS

We have two types of routine appointments -

1: PRE-BOOKABLE appointments – these can be booked up to 6 weeks in advance

2: ACCESS appointments – these can be booked 1-2 days in advance

Appointments are for 10 minutes. If you have more than one problem or feel that your problem is going to need more than 10 minutes please ask for a longer appointment -double appointments are available for multiple problems

IF YOU NO LONGER WANT OR CANNOT ATTEND YOUR APPOINTMENT PLEASE TELEPHONE AND CANCEL SO THE TIME CAN BE OFFERED TO ANOTHER PATIENT

URGENT APPOINTMENTS

Urgent assessment clinics /appointments are available everyday. These are for single problems that have arisen in the last 24-48 hours and/or for problems that cannot wait until the next available, bookable, routine appointment.

Whenever possible please ring before 10:30 for an urgent appointment as this assists us in managing the workload.

Please note:

These appointments are shorter than normal and are not appropriate for longstanding or ongoing problems

An appointment time is given but this is only a guide, the clinics can be very busy.

Please be prepared to wait and be patient.

It is not possible to say which doctor you will be seeing.

TELEPHONE ADVICE

All the doctors are available to give advice over the telephone, discuss results or answer simple questions. It is not always necessary for you to come into the surgery.

The best time to telephone is between 12 and 1:30

At busy times the receptionist will take a message and the doctor (or duty doctor) will call you back. Please provide sufficient information to the receptionist so that the doctor can prioritise the call back.

HOME VISITS

If you feel you need a home visit please call the surgery BEFORE 10:30a.m.

Home visits are strictly for patients who are housebound because of disability or for patients that are seriously ill and whose medical condition prevents them from attending the surgery. The Receptionist will ask your name, address and telephone number and the nature of your illness so the degree of urgency can be assessed.

Please be aware:

A doctor can see 10 patients at the surgery in the time it takes to do one home visit.

There are better facilities for examining and treating patients at the surgery.
